Governor Gray Davis appointed Fire Captain John Tennant to the position of State Fire Marshal. Prior to being appointed Chief Tennant was a Fire Captain with the City of Pasadena Fire Department. During his twenty-eight (28) years of fire experience he also served as a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California (USC) Masters Program for Public Administration. In 1989, while he was pursuing a course of study in political science at USC he served as an administrative assistant to State Senator Cecil Greene.
