Current Situation

Situation Summary

Firefighters have made significant progress building and reinforcing containment lines around the perimeter of the Post Fire outside of Gorman.

Firefighters will continue to monitor hot spots within the fire, while also focusing on heat and smoke around the perimeter. Suppression repair continues to return the watersheds and recreation areas to pre-fire conditions. Hot and dry weather is forecast to continue through Thursday as are shifting gusty winds.

Today, CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 2 will transfer command of the fire to the US Forest Service. Subsequent incident updates will be provided by the Los Padres National Forest Unit. An Evacuation Warning issued for areas south of Gorman Post Road, west of Interstate 5, east of the Los Angeles County line, and north of Pyramid Lake has been LIFTED (Zone GOR-HUNGRYVALLEY).

Pyramid Lake, parts of Los Padres National Forest northwest of Pyramid Lake, and the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area remain closed to the public.

Access may be limited in some areas due to work by emergency personnel. Follow all posted information and instructions by local officials.
